Author's Note: Projects that I have not forgotten as some of you might think, but that I'm slowly but steadily working on. Here are some sneak peeks of three stories I'm writting down, on and off.

The Stumble Prevents the Fall - Chapter 3, Part I

(Lillian's p.o.v.)

Standing some distance away from where the rest of the company had settled down for a quick breather, I found myself staring at the dense forest around me. We had left the trolls —now big chunks of porous stone— behind us, tracking a path that had lead to a cave. Gandalf, Thorin and a few of the Dwarves had ventured in to inspect what useful items the trolls had hoarded in there, but the foul stench that surrounded the place made the rest of us happy to stay where we were.

Removed from prying eyes and ears, I sighed out loudly, clutching my sides as a wave of nausea preceded the headache that washed over me for the umpteenth time.
Oh, how I longed for an end to these insufferable headaches and the dark, unsettling visions that accompanied them. I dearly hoped that this location we were nearing, this 'Hidden Valley' Gandalf had spoken to me about, indeed held the answers to my plethora of questions. The constant ignorance began to become unbearable. I needed to know what fate had befallen me and my sister, I needed to know what these visions meant, and I desperately needed for the pounding in my head to stop.

And yet...

As the distance grew ever shorter, I could feel the doubt nagging at my brain. These long-lost memories, veiled in mist and darkness... Would it really be wise to revive their origin? Would it not be better to leave the past in the past and simply be happy we found ourselves in this marvellous world now —however it had happened?
I had contemplated upon these questions for some time now, in the long days of solitude that the road provided. A sense of fear overtook me whenever I had seen a memory too clearly. A festering feeling of dread lingered, like a coldness that froze you from the inside out.

When I turned around to see how Audrey had laid her head on Bilbo's shoulder, eyes closed and brow furrowed, my doubts returned. Had my sister experienced similar agonizing visions? Was that why she looked so pale? Or was I reading too much into this, and was Audrey simply shaken up by our encounter with the Trolls? The helplessness that I felt at seeing my sister in such distress —whatever the cause— was enough to enrage me, and I needed to avert my eyes before I lost my senses and followed the urge to punch the bark of the tree closest to me.

Long minutes passed as I battled my temper in silence, and when I had regained a sense of poise once more, I lost myself in shallow thoughts, staring in the distance, unseeing.

"Are you alright?"

Amor Vincit Omnia - Chapter 3

Belgae smiled, turned around and made herself as comfortable as she could with a skirt that big in one of the cushioned chairs. "Before either of us start up a conversation about the weather...," she waved her hand to the chair diagonally in front of her, silently inviting Arthur to sit. (Even though courtesy would have had it the other way around.) "Francis can only give us so long..."

If he was completely honest with himself, England did not want to talk about more serious matters. He would have liked nothing better than to chat about trivial things, to laugh and to forget their sorrows. To just sit there and listen to the sound of Marie's voice and to see her eyes sparkle whenever he would be quick enough to make her laugh.

But she was right. Even though France could talk for hours on end about divergent matters, he would not be able to capture the Habsburg's attention for the entire evening. And seeing how... attached Spain had been to Marie... Well, let's say they had an hour to themselves, at best.

"I wonder what you said to get Francis to entertain the other two, though?" Marie wondered. "Seeing as he is not exactly on good terms with either of them."

England frowned, "I didn't—" but he stopped talking when he thought of something. France had been rather keen to point out that Marie had been looking for him, and not anyone else. He had practically pushed him towards her (and Spain and Austria) as if he had known Arthur would not have done so unless he had been ordered by his queen, or if Marie had stood alone. It had been as if France wanted nothing more for them to talk to each other. Now Arthur did start to wonder what he had said or done for France to be so... eager to help. Could it be that he knew how Arthur actually felt about... No, that was a ridiculous thought. England prided himself on being able to keep a lid on things he desperately wanted to keep secret. France might be under the impression that he's notorious for being the 'country of love', but there was no way he could have possibly figured that out.

"Whatever I said, I'm sure I'm going to regret it later," Arthur said. "Never mind that now. You wanted to have a serious conversation? Well then, how are you?"

"Oh, fine, you know,... all things considered."

"Okay... And how are you really?"

Marie smirked, "I could ask you the same thing."

"You were the one who did not want us talking about the weather and other blissfully ignorant subjects," England grumbled. "Besides, I asked you first."

Belgae smiled at his childlike behaviour. "Very Well."

Shingeki no Kyojin oneshot

(If Eren had never saved Mikasa when they were kids and she was put to 'work')

He never thought he would find her here, of all places.

He was disgusted.

Six years ago, Eren and his father had opened the door to a tragedy, and even though he had barely been ten years old at the time, Eren would never forget the two lifeless bodies lying on the floor in a heap of flesh and blood.
His father, a doctor, used to seeing terrible wounds and buckets of the thick, red liquid had guided his young son back outside and had calmly waved over a neighbour to go and alert the Military Police. When Eren had asked him why they weren't pursuing the culprits themselves, his young heart bleeding with the injustice of it all, his father had looked at him sternly and ordered him to stay where they were, close to him.
He had told Eren —before they had knocked on death's door— that the people they were going to visit were friends who had a daughter his age, in the hopes his son would make an effort to befriend her, seeing as he only had one true friend as it was. Said daughter, his father told him then, was not in the house anymore. She had most likely been kidnapped, and if that was the case, the people who murdered her parents could still be close by. They had to be careful.

When the Military Police finally arrived it was already too late. They had followed tracks that led to an abandoned cottage in the woods, where they had found pieces of rope and dried up blood. The murdering bastards though, were long gone, and the girl with them.

Eren had felt sick to his stomach when he realised he could have found this cottage by himself easily and might have been able to save her if his father hadn't noticed him trying to sneak off to do just that.

His anger had been lit, and as he heard the members of the Military Police talking to each other, he made a decision.

"The blood must have been the girl's. They probably beat her to keep her quiet."

"She had Asian blood in her, the neighbours said. She's most likely being sold."

"By Underground rogues, no doubt."

"If they've already reached the mazes of the Underground market..."

"... Then we'll never find her. She's on her own."

He was going to save her.

Some of the things I've been working on, so for those of you who thought I had abandoned any of these stories: I haven't. It's just getting me a lot longer than usual to get back into the swing of things. I also included a Shingeki no Kyojin oneshot that I'll most likely never finish even if it already counts about 2k words.
